Polish Furniture Program
The Polish Development Fund has presented the financial services package of the PFR Group addressed to the furniture industry and a special report on the condition and prospects of the Polish furniture market.
The furniture sector has significantly contributed to the success of Polish exports. Furniture manufacturers gained the second position among the industries in terms of net exports, just behind the manufacturers of automotive parts and accessories. In 2016, Poland was fourth among the world's largest furniture exporters. In the European Union, only Italy has more furniture companies.
Maintaining a high position and increasing the efficiency of Polish furniture companies, at times of rising wage costs and dwindling human capital resources, will, however, require the implementation of new business models and increased investment outlays. The automation and robotisation of production, the integration of the value chain, material, functional and design innovations as well as direct services for individual and institutional clients have the potential to become the driving force behind the development of the furniture industry.
The implementation of activities addressed to the furniture industry is focused within the flagship Polish Furniture Program, which is managed by the Ministry of Economic Development. The aim of the programme is to stimulate the development of industrial design and the creation of strong Polish brands, using modern technologies and eco-design.
